Great Alpine Walk – Day Two
Day two was certainly the easiest in terms of walking, as we basically followed the various Aqueduct’s built around Falls Creek during the early hydro-electricity schemes between the 1930’s and 1950’s. During the day we checked out some of the cattlemen’s huts, which are now used as emergency shelters for skiers since cattle has been banned from the high mountain areas back in 2006. Although the snow gum’s all look dead, they are not, and you should be able to spot plenty of signs of how the Australian bush regenerates since the area was devastated by bush fires back in 2006.
