Planned Alpine Bush Walking Trip1

Victoria has some lovely high country that I never had a chance to walk through (being snow bound for the winter months does make it a little hard to go hiking in) but I recently stumbled on this little gem of a hiking trip that I promptly signed both of us up for.  The only downside is the trip is in a few months time and I soo need a holiday now :(

Day 1: 10am start at Melbourne airport.  Travel via historic Glenrowan and Mt Beauty to Falls Creek Alpine Village.  A short village stroll provides you with a good orientation.  Overnight in Falls Creek.

Day 2: Today begins by following an easy Aqueduct Trail connected to one of Australia’s early hydro-electricity schemes, built between the 1930’s and 1950’s. k

Day 3: Will you be up to the challenge of walking all the way from Falls Creek to Mt Hotham? .

Day 4: The standard 10km track to Dinner Plain is easy, but you can also add an optional 9km walk to the aptly named Mt Tabletop.

Day 5: The hiking starts along the breathtaking Razorback Ridge, surely one of the most dramatic walking routes in Australia.  As you walk along it, Mt Feathertop gradually looms more and more impressively.  The final (optional) steep climb to the summit is a ripper!

Day 6: Walk through forests beside the Ovens River to the outskirts of Bright.

Day 7: Travel back to Melbourne, arriving at the airport at about 2pm.

Fumbling the BallComments Off

The only redeeming thing about the Australia VS Kiwi game on the weekend was the lack of a live telecast on Australian free to air.  Yeah the 39-10 drumming was not unexpected, with the return of the NZ Captain and the NZ home crowd advantage the score was always going to be one sided.  Still credit to the NZ team on the 39-10 score line, the Australian’s got out played and simply out classed.  The question is will the Australian’s stage a come back in the third game?  ;)

Aussies Vs Allback One Down, One Up :)Comments Off

Last night would have been a dark day for the Kiwi cousins when Australia took the opening match 34 to 19, lead by the former Kiwi All-Blacks coach who we manage to poach off the Kiwi’s last year :-)

The final score does not do justice to what a fine a game this was and I will freely admit the final score should have been closer as the Kiwi’s got robbed a try with a plainly illegal tackle that some how escaped the umpire’s whistle.

It was a great game to watch with friends in a pub on the big screen and I am happy to post that I escaped the humiliation planned for me by my two Kiwi friends.  All I can say ladies is payback is a bitch ;)
