(You will see in the photos, plenty of left over mining activities, with plenty of sluices, tailings, mines and shafts.) Our walk also took us along the Oven River, which I have been told, during autumn is not to be missed due to all the colours of the autumn leaves. The Oven’s river looked inviting, maybe next time I will take a tube and float down the river like we saw a number of people doing..

Day Four, the sun was shining again, so out came the sunblock and off came the layers, which was so different from yesterday’s weather! Today we started from Mt Hotham on our way back towards Dinner Plains, stopping for a break then taking a sharp climb up to Mount Tabletop to take in the views. Although this was a long walk, it was mostly a gentle grade giving us plenty of time to take in the views of snowgums, more cattle huts, abandoned cattle yards and mountain jaw dropping views.
