The Deck, RevisitedComments Off

I love my deck, I cannot believe it been a year since it was first built and of course like all good wood decks, you got to oil the wood once a year to stop it from splitting :( Still when you look at the before and after photos, I got to say the end result after two coats of oil, made the effort well worth it..

Just in case you notice, job supervision was undertaken by the next door neighbours cat (Leo) who has made it know to us, that the deck is really his to sleep on.

Going to Wordcamp in MelbourneComments Off

Wordpress had a Wordcamp in Melbourne on Saturday and considering I live in Melbourne I thought I would rock over and have a chance to meet other Wordpress Users..

After jumping on the train, (running late again, thanks Connex) and been forced to walk the long away around the Southern Cross Station due to construction I finally managed to turn up just in time to the Watermark Bar – Pavillion the Wordcamp event location.

Some of the hightlights for me..

  • Hats off to James Farmer for organising this event, btw the bar next door was a GREAT touch ;) )
  • Some really interesting insights into what makes Wordpress.com tick by Alex Shiels and how automatic manage to run the huge volume of blogs on Wordpress MU using off the shelf hardware.
  • Tags, how to get them confused with categories (ok that was not really what Christine Davis presented but I am still a little confused what in the heck is the difference between tags and categories)
  • Sandbox, a very neat Wordpress theming idea on how to fully tweak your Wordpress Theme just in css… Nice presentation, Alister Cameron, how’s that XTHML compliance on your site going? :)
  • Meeting two of the automatic developers, I never knew automatic had developers in Australia.
  • Drinks (How could I forget them)..

Thanks again James for your work in organising this event..
