With Christmas all over, Sharon and I went up north to visit my family up in the Sunshine Coast. Normally this time of the year you would get the daily tropical thunderstorms and clear blue sky however the weather had a different surprise in store for us and instead a intensive low developed just of the coast of Fraser Island and instead we had eight days solid of some of the worse weather I’ve seen all the way down the Coast as far as Tweed Heads with High Seas, blinding Rain and intensive wind gusts. We managed to get down to the Coast and take some pretty spectacular photos of the high waves and a few silly individuals who ignored the beach closed signs to ride the four meter swell.

Unfortunately my much beloved Canon G6 died on our honeymoon, although it could be repaired, it would have silly to spend any more money on a camera that is now showing it’s age, so thanks to a friend of mine I managed to get my hands on the brand new Canon G9 at staff pricing (thus making it cheaper to buy the brand new G9 rather than repair the old G6 which is pretty sad statement over now it is no longer economic to repair, instead we just throw out and replace.)
Although I would love a Canon 40D, the bulk of a camera does not lend it’s self to bushwalking, so this makes for my third Canon G series camera and I have high hopes this camera will live up to the rest of the G series, which is constantly reviewed as the best of the point and click camera’s on the market.
